ORANJESTAD- The question of whether or not to change team is something I know is in the minds of a lot of soccer players during every off-season. It seems like such a simple, direct question for a player to ask themselves "should I change team?" The answer is even more direct, just two or three letter needed - a simple "no" or "yes"

With the last day of players transaction behind us, all speculation now can be laid to rest. August 15, is the date that all team managers on the island of Aruba sits behind their desk, not wanting to answer any phone calls. This is due to the fact that every manager no matter what, never wants to lose one of its players. The problem of course is many time is not the other team chasing the player, it is the player seeking a team where he can get more playing time to continue with his soccer development.

Still other times, the player's ambitions to leave is based on the incorrect metric of a team's winning record, rather than the quality of the learning and existence of a long-term development plan.

The two teams that lost most players this summer are Bubali, who lost a total of 14 players and recently relegated Caravel who lost a total 12 players respectively. This year, it was a momentous decision for ninety-two soccer players on the island to use their opportunity to make a summer switch. Which teams these players would be joining is not all set or confirmed yet. The players making the biggest buzz are, Albert Francis Roy, is to leave La Fama to join Nacional, Juan Valdez is to leave RCA to join Dakota, Gregory Lake is to leave Britannia to join Dakota and lastly Tyron Maria is also set to leave Bubali to join La Fama.

So, if your favored player decided to change team this summer, no matter how much it hurts, LET THEM BE. Let them love the game, spend time with new friends, and get playing time. After all, it’s just a game.
